In 2017, CER devoted a great deal of effort to the implementation of the Fourth Railway Package’s Safety and Interoperability Directives. The harmonisation of certification and authorisation processes under the control of the EU Agency for Railways represents a significant leap forward in shaping a real Single European Railway Area and fostering better services for passengers and goods.

CER has also been following the Brexit negotiations, acting as an essential interlocutor for the EU institutions by highlighting potential challenges and their corresponding solutions.

Want to know the other achievements of CER during 2017? Check the new annual report!

CER members represent 73% of the European rail network length, 80% of the European freight business and 96% of rail passenger operations in Europe. CER ́s role is to represent the interests of its members by actively providing an input to EU policy, in particular, to support an improved business and regulatory environment for European railway undertakings and infrastructure managers.

Page in extremis is proud to participate in the creative development and the graphical production of the CER annual report. The result is an impactful publication made within an intimate dialogue framework involving the Belgian communication agency’s creative team and CER’s communication team.

Each year, the graphical team of Page in extremis signs the design and produces about twenty annual reports.

The year 2017 in review gives you a flavour of what the UN Environment Programme is doing in the pan-European region. This online publication invites you on a white journey through 12 initiatives UN Environment ran this year in Europe.

UNEP hopes that some of their latest success stories will trigger your desire to work together with them for a more sustainable Europe.

2017, said Jan Dusik,  Director, Europe Office, UN Environment “was the year of the third UN Environment Assembly, but also the Year of Ecology in Russia. We have stood side-by-side with citizens to protect our environment, including through securing millions of individual pledges to beat pollution, and re-connected people to nature through World Environment Day. Our engagement in Central Asia has reached a historic high, thanks to a number of new projects and our participation in the Sustainable Energy EXPO in Astana. We have also aimed to make an impact on the ground, be it through training Ukrainian journalists on green economy, rolling our sleeves up to help collect waste in the Russian Arctic, or by reducing air pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have continued to push for the environment to be a high priority at the political level, for example by supporting the G7 environment ministers’ meeting, hosting the 5th conference of the parties of the Carpathian Convention and by taking part in numerous high-level meetings on the Arctic”.

The online publication is the result of a collaboration between the communication team of UNEP in Europe and the communication agency, Page in extremis.

Based in Brussels, Page in extremis is a communication agency that makes brands conversational. We help organisations manage their communities, engage with their stakeholders and convey their messages through innovative digital tools.

How to organise your narration within an animation? Storyboarding is essential before developing an animation.

A storyboard works like the blueprint of the architect. During the storyboarding phase, you can identify most errors related to the narration, media, and other relevant details.

Storyboarding is crucial for four mains  reasons:

1) The storyboard allows checking if the concept works.  The storyboard determines the direction the animation is going to take.

2) While creating the storyboard, you can write and test impactful punch lines and dialogues.

3) Will the action work? Storyboards contain notes that give a whole idea of how the animation would flow in its entirety.

4) For complex animations, to avoid over budget, it is better to have an approved storyboard before entering the production phase of the project.

Page in extremis has developed numerous animation for several European institutions and organisations such as the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER).

CER’s role is to represent the interests of its members on the EU policy-making scene, in particular, to support an improved business and regulatory environment for European railway operators and railway infrastructure companies.

CER has selected the communication agency, Page in extremis, as a partner for ensuring an active alignment between the messages developed by the Association and their visual expressions.

How to promote your event through social media?

The 7th of March 2018, CECED will celebrate its 60th anniversary in Brussels. The Social Media Campaign on the CECED’s 60th Anniversary is running at full speed: a mini-website is online as a central information point, and a series of teasers are regularly shared on CECED’s twitter account.

The campaign highlights a tipping point where the past meets the future: with a consistent theme and tone, each twitter post shows a member of the CECED team displaying a home appliance advertisement dated from the 50’s until nowadays.
This iterative approach illustrates how innovations in household appliances have radically revolutionised the lifestyle of every European citizen. A catchy call to action invites to stay in touch by following the campaign on www.ceced60.eu and with the #ceced60 hashtag or even to join the conversation through @CECED_Europe!

CECED is the Brussels-based trade association that provides a single, consensual voice for the home appliance industry in Europe. CECED has 20 Direct Members and 26 National Associations covering 25 countries.

The communication agency, Page in extremis develops the social media campaign within a creative dialogue framework with the CECED’s team.

“A picture tells a thousand words”, images help us grab attention, tell, and motivate. There is real value in using photographs to promote your main messages.

Our vision is the most active of our senses: a large percentage of the human brain dedicates itself to visual processing. That is due to our evolution: quick processing of visual information has saved our ancestors from the attack of predators. When we look at a picture, we analyse it instantly, and the meaning of it comes to us immediately. The human brain recognises a familiar object within 100 milliseconds. Good communicators should use that fact to their advantage. For instance, on social media, a post accompanied by an image is ten times more apt to receive engagement. Visuals are one way of catching your audience’s attentiveness and gaining interaction.

Images also have an exceptional potential to get an emotional response from your audience. Pictures help us become involved. With photographs, we see what is written. To simplify the often complicated messages, we appreciate the help of visuals. The images contribute positively to the storytelling process that makes the communication more engaging.

With all this in mind, the communication agency, Page in extremis can help you develop the customised images bank of your organisation.
